Suffolk Landscape photography tour

Sunday 21st January 2024

7 am till 4 pm

felixstowe landcape photography workshops gryones in suffolk at sunrise

It will focus on the landscapes in the well-known coastal areas of  Suffolk.

Starting at Cobbold’s point in Felixstowe, we will be shooting the iconic sea defences. Then at high tide, we will move further north along the coast to various locations including Pin Mill and Shingle street for sunset, where we hopefully are treated to an amazing sunset along with the forever-changing single spit.

Who is the session aimed at?

The Suffolk Landscape photography tour is aimed at anybody who has a very basic understanding of the manual controls on their DSLR camera right through to people who know how to use their camera and just want to improve their photographic practice. With professional guidance in a relaxed atmosphere throughout the workshop, you will learn about composition, getting your images pin-sharp to make sure every bit of detail stands out, how to make the most out of natural light, using filters including graduated and neutral density and how to take panoramic shots with your camera.

Please do note, that this is a tour, not a dedicated photo workshop, it is a Photowalk that the organisers (Dibs and Duncan) have a mutual interest in, hence making this happen. So please do not be surprised when you see them taking photos alongside you.

This being said, we are always on hand to offer some advice if you are wanting to improve your photography during the session as we thrive off seeing people progress in their own photographic journey

A car will be essential as during the day you will be responsible for getting yourself from location to location. We are happy to supply you with a map of the location and postcode or coordinates if you prefer but we always try to drive in convoy and as always a sat nav is advisable.

We also highly recommend having a Sat Nav with you.

You will need to provide yourself with snacks and drinks, as due to the locations we will be shooting there will not be a guarantee of the shop being nearby at all times. We can’t guarantee we will be near to public toilets at times.

Will you need any filters?

For our tutors Dibs and Duncan’s own work they only use the market-leading Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. We fully appreciate photography can be an expensive passion, so with this in mind, we will supply you with the filters and adapters for you to try out during the session, this gives you the best opportunity to see exactly what you will get for your money should you then invest in a kit. But best of all, this is a great opportunity for you to see what type of filters you prefer for your style of photography, again things we will explore throughout the session.

We can advise you on what kit to get as it can be a little daunting looking at what you may or may not need.

We also have a discount code for buying filters, just apply DIBSM10 or DARNOLD10 at the checkout of the Formatt Hitech site. If you have any questions about what setups to look into purchasing feel free to ask

The day will start at the 1st location at 7 am. We aim to be finished at 4 pm.

We will stop for hot food after the surprise part of the day at a local cafe.

We will email you all the specific details about locations a few days before the workshop is due to take place,  as this allows us to plan for weather conditions during the session.

Cancellations

Up to 4 weeks before the event, you will receive a full refund less the administration fees incurred.

Within the 4-week period before the event, we will not, unfortunately, be able to issue a refund.

We reserve the right to cancel the workshop due to adverse weather or low ticket sales, a full refund or booking onto the amended date will be offered in this case

Please also note

The locations we visit unfortunately will require the purchase of a car park ticket. Please make sure you have adequate change.

Please ensure you have plenty of fuel in the vehicle, as at the last location, services are limited

Please bring along food and drink, sensible footwear for walking on unpaved pathways and suitable clothing.

Don’t forget to charge your batteries. Make sure that you have sufficient space on your memory cards for a day’s shooting.

Fitness

You will need a moderate fitness level for this workshop as participants will be walking on undulating terrain, unmade paths and areas that are very thick shingle. The area of the sea defences can involve a small scramble to get to some of the best vantage points.

We very much look forward to meeting you on the day.

Kind Regards,

Through The Lens Workshops
