About

Workshops staff

Welcome to the Through the Lens Workshops. We are Dibs and Duncan, a small group of dedicated, skilled photographers with a wealth of experience and knowledge in all disciplines of photography.

The team have a wealth of experience in running workshops on a one-to-one basis, in group environments and also for much larger sessions for the likes of camera clubs.

Collectively we knew there would be value in working together, and since making to decision to do so, we have delivered over 400 workshops. These are always quality workshops in the East of England area and even further afield, but always with an emphasis on trying to reduce the overall cost for all participants, to try and make photography more accessible for everybody.

We each have our own style which complements each other, and we love nothing more than getting out with the camera to amazing locations with groups of other like-minded individuals. From our collective experience, we are able to provide mentoring and guidance on image composition, a comprehensive understanding of your camera settings and how they relate to each other, lens choices, how to approach planning for shooting a particular subject whether it be landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, night photography, portraits and post-processing workflows and techniques within Lightroom and Photoshop and even how to stay safe when out shooting in the challenges the UK weather can bring.

There is not much that we do not cover in our sessions as we are strong believers in experiential learning, such as the way we have learnt.

Instructor Profiles:

Dibs

I have always loved being outdoors and in the challenging elements, so it should come as no surprise that you will normally find me out on location shooting landscapes, seascapes and abandoned locations all over the UK and this is why I also volunteer as a Search and Rescue search technician in my spare time.

Having completed my commercial photography degree with first-class honours, I decided to further my studies in the field of the history of landscape photography for my Postgraduate Masters Degree and since then I also achieved my Associate distinction from the Royal Photographic Society and I am now working towards my Fellowship.

You can see more of where and what I do on this page of my own website

My work has been published and exhibited around the world and has won various awards, but I now split my time between shooting images for my own portfolio and projects for print sales for London image agencies, and teaching workshops for all levels of photographers in all genres of photography.
