Summer Solstice Norfolk Coast Charity Photo Walk

Friday 21st June 2019

Starting just before sunrise at 04:15

And

Shooting until Sundown at 21:26

Through the lens workshops have decided to go for another walk along the Norfolk coast and are inviting you along.

Amanda, Dibs, Duncan and fellow Photographer friend Josh Brown have organised a sponsored walk along the Norfolk coast that will start at Sheringham Promenade as the sun comes up.

We plan to walk West along the coast throughout the day with the aim of finishing the day as the sun goes down at Wells-Next-The-Sea.

Why this day though?

The day of the walk is the longest day of the year, also known as the Summer solstice.

With approximately 17 hrs of daylight to walk and photograph approximately 18 miles of Norfolk’s finest coastline.

During the day we will be photographing subjects including:

Sheringham Promenade

WWII Bunkers

Mud flats and Estuary’s

Vast open flat beaches

Cliff falls and rock pools

Long exposure seascapes

Norfolk’s well know big skies

Numerous different designs of sea groynes and whatever things of interest we find laying on the beach on the day

What Charity are we raising money for.

Our chosen charity that we are raising money for this year is Good friend and talented fellow photographer Robert Powell who sadly passed away in early 2018

The idea of the event is that your ticket price will be the way of generating some well needed money for the Charity.

Your £25 ticket price includes your donation to the charity and also for your minibus travel back to the start point of the walk that will be organised by us.

What will happen throughout the day

The days event is not a workshop. We would like to stress that there will be no tuition on the day. It is a fun day that the tutors will also be taking part in themselves and will also be taking images.

If everything goes to plan we will be looking to be covering 18 miles of walking in the day so a good level of fitness will be required. We will be walking most of the day on the beach and maintained foot ways, but at times we will be walking on roads and unmade paths.

If we do not manage the full distance it is not  a problem. The day is more about having fun and raising money

During the day you will be responsible for carrying your own photographic equipment, drink and food. We will be planning on stopping  at locations en route for breakfast and lunch so we recommend snacks to eat throughout the day. When we stop at these locations it could also be a good opportunity to charge up a battery if you wish.

If you feel that you cant go on any further with the walking then we will never be that far away from civilisation, so there will always be a means to get you back to your car, but please be aware that this will be at your own cost.

At the end of the days walk we will have minibus/coach booked to return us back to the start location’s car park.

What you will need to bring

On the day we would recommend the following equipment and for it all to be able to be carried easily attached to or in your bag. You need to remember that the equipment you take you are responsible for carrying for the whole session:
