RAF Neatishead bunker tour.
Saturday 8th June at 1 pm for a 1:30 pm prompt start
We have organized a chance for you to have a look around the Nuclear bunker at the Former RAF Neatishead site a few miles North of Norwich.
A Little bit of history of the site.
Back in the 1950’s, as the Soviet Block developed their ability to deploy Nuclear Weapons against the United Kingdom and the free world, many key NATO military facilities were moved underground to provide added protection. The underground Sector Operations Centre at Neatishead is a very well-preserved example of such an R3 Bunker. Approached via a Guardhouse “disguised” to look like a farm cottage, the two-story underground bunker was designed to enable the RAF to coordinate the Air Defence of the UK even in the event of a nuclear strike. Providing complete Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical protection for the Fighter Controllers and the other staff working in the Operation Centre, the bunker could be sealed and staff could then continue to live and work to coordinate the air battle in shirt sleeves.
On the day of your visit enter via the Old Site main entrance and follow the RED arrows for parking. You will be met by the R3 Bunker Volunteers in the Combined Mess car park. Please arrive before 13-15 for your visit to the Bunker, the tour starts promptly at 13-30 hrs. If you are late you will, unfortunately, miss the tour.
The address for the site is Birds Lane, Horning NR12 8YB
This is a not for profit event, the money raised goes to ensuring the bunker can remain open for others to get tours around it and also to help local charities, the local charities so far have received over £10,000 since the tours began.
You will need to book a free ticket with us, then pay the £10 on entry to the tour guide on the day.
If you book a ticket and end up not being able to attend, please can you let us know at the earliest possible time so we can offer the place to somebody else.

This is not a workshop, there will be no tuition. It is a walkabout where we will be taking photos as well.
Camera insurance is not included in the price
Don’t forget to charge your batteries. Make sure that you have sufficient space on your memory cards for a day’s shooting.
We look forward to meeting you on the day of the RAF Neatishead bunker tour.
