Norfolk landscape workshop tree illuminated with flash at night with a blue sky in the fog

The Norfolk Nocturnal Landscapes Photography Workshop is an opportunity for you to photograph one of Norfolk’s areas of outstanding beauty and mixing up things with a mixture of stunning artificial and ambient light.

The area is full of amazing subjects such as windswept trees, grasses, and sand dunes.

For many years shooting at night has been our tutor Dibs’s favorite genre of shooting. Shooting at night creates a whole different level of imagery that requires a lot of commitment to get right due to the challenges with working in remote and dark places, but once we show you the fundamentals behind working in this way you will be bitten by the need to shoot at night.

With nothing but us and nature in the landscape, the location makes for very creative shots. This leads to atmospheric shots that are not seen by many due to being tucked up in bed.

This style of shooting was the focus of his Master’s degree work and you can see more examples of it here

We will take you to the some of the more interesting locations in the vast dune network and give you the guidance to quickly improve your composition and technical ability all while using Off camera flash and led continuous lighting.

A relative good level of fitness will be required, as throughout the night we will be walking a lot, we will cover up to several miles on the sand dunes and existing paths looking for more photographic opportunity.

The workshop will start at 8pm at the car park and will finish around midnight at the same location.

Throughout the Norfolk Nocturnal Landscapes Photography Workshop

we will discuss and cover the following:

The benefits of the different equipment to use for shooting in varying conditions and how to use it correctly.

Show you how to use flash light or Continuous Lighting to illuminate part of the shots.

Cover how to focus in the dark

Looking at compositions and covering what works and what does not work

The importance of ISO

Metering for shots

Setting white balance correctly

We will discuss editing techniques and maybe even cover a little bit of editing while still out in the field.

Thinking and talking about safety while shooting at night
